Space Science Careers travelling display

The Space Science Careers exhibit profiles this rapidly emerging field in South Africa. The government is currently establishing the South African Space Agency and a unique micro satellite, SumbandilaSat, is being launched.

SumbandilaSat will take pictures of southern Africa to help with research, planning and management in areas such as agriculture, the fishing industry, water resources, urban planning, and losses caused by disasters such as fires and oil spills.

The panel-type, static display provides definitions of space science, space technologies and systems and helps profile South Africa’s space engineers, scientists and technologists. It details how they can help find solutions to many of the problems facing Africa such as drought, famine, and urbanisation.

The aim of the display is to capture the attention of young people who might want to train in space science, engineering and technology and remote sensing

The display provides useful info about postgraduate courses in space science and remote sensing.
