Biotechnology Careers Display

This exhibit profiles a number of biotechnology career options in South Africa - using real life examples. Nineteen different biotechnologists were interviewed around the country for this exhibit, and it not only explains what they do, but also who they are, where they work, what school subjects and personal characteristics you need to do this job and where you could potentially get a job. The exhibit is ideal for grade 8 learners upwards, who are investigating different career options and choosing school subjects to study at Matric.

What does the exhibition consist of?

The exhibit consists of five portable frame units, enabling the exhibit to be split and used at different locations simultaneously. Via a PUB grant, this exhibit was produced by the CSIR.

Although the exhibit itself is static, when used at public exhibitions and relevant events, role models are brought in to speak about their specific biotechnology career and so interactively profile biotechnology careers and answer questions. A PUB careers brochure, containing identical information to that on the exhibit, has also been printed to enable interested learners to take the information home with them.
