Call for Expressions of Interest

The South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA) a business unit of the National Research Foundation, wishes to announce its intention to redevelop the Johannesburg Observatory site into a Science Awareness Platform. SAASTA invites Calls for Expressions of Interest from parties having in-depth experience in the development and project management of sites on which heritage resources are located.

The appointment will be for a Principal Agent to manage the project in collaboration with SAASTA, and will require applicants capable of implementing and overseeing all aspects of site redevelopment, including planning, architectural work, tender document preparation, historic impact assessment, heritage compliance, landscaping and terrain rehabilitation.

Short-listed bidders will be invited to attend a compulsory briefing session on terrain, following which they will submit a costing for site development based on the site visit and project description. Bidders will also be required to do proposal presentations to SAASTA's Review Committee.
