About EasyScience

EasyScience is a popular science supplement aimed at senior primary school children. This colourful supplement, which forms part of MiniMag, is filled with science material that covers and supplements the school curriculum.

The home experiments - which prove to be most popular with youngsters - can all be done with materials that are easily obtainable in and around the house.

The aim of the supplement is to show children, who are at an age where they have to make important decisions on subject choices for high school, that science is exciting and concerns their everyday lives.

Background

Prior to its incorporation into MiniMag, EasySciece was distributed to subscribers as a magazine produced by the Foundation for Education, Science and Technology (FEST). The magazine proved very popular during the six years it was published and distributed. In December 2002, FEST became part of South Africa's biggest science funding and promoting organisation, the National Research Foundation (NRF) and the name of the organisation changed to the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA).

All these changes provided EasyScience with the opportunity to partner with MiniMag and continue in providing a science supplement that will be for all young (and young at heart) South Africans who want to explore, discover, and experience science.
